Quality of life help

I'm using a virtual LXLE (lubuntu-based) for schoolwork on a laptop with a logitech wireless mouse. Windows 8.1 host, running vmware player.

The issue I'm having is that when I right click to bring up an item's menu with the mouse, it auto-selects whatever happened to highlight in that split second.

With the trackpad, it behaves as expected in that the menu pops up and waits for me to select something.

It also happens on the "start" menu.

Basically, wireless mouse clicks act as menu expansion and selection of whatever happens to be highlighted while the trackpad behaves as expected.

Am I missing something obvious? I will not try virtualbox. It's self-hosed enough systems for me that I don't trust it, and vmware player runs smoother anyway.

What mouse driver are you using, and is the mouse managed by the host, or passed through to the guest as a USB device?

My first instinct is to try a generic driver, if you're using Logitech's.

Logitech driver.

I'm assuming it's managed by the host; I didn't do anything special to add it to the VM. I'd rather not fuss with drivers, it works fine in Windows.

So it's sounding like I'll just have to deal with it. It won't be the end of the world. I was just curious if there was a quick fix.

I appreciate your help, though.
