I have 2 sticks of 256mb PC2100 Kingston ValueRam , and I'm just wondering whether they are good or not, because I frankly dont know anything about them other than it sounds like a name brand product.

Mainly, what are people's overclocking success with them? Do they crap out easily or are they stable even at higher FSB speeds?

I have some PC2100 paired with my Crucial/micron of the same type and the kingston has a lower OC limit than the crucial. (system was more stable with only the crucial in it). I think it crapped out when i was running at 139mhz FSB on my Xp1600 and 8k7a, which in it self doesnt OC much more than that but the system was definatly less stable with the kingston in it.

Its good ram though, just not the best if you are looking to OC.

I personally like the Infineon chips. They overclock moderately well, certainly not as well as some of the higher brands out there, but for the average person it will work just fine. I find them to be a pretty good value for what you can normally buy them for.

How high of an overclock are we talking here? They run at 133fsb.. so would they be able to take up to 166fsb?

You might be able to take them there but not with the fastest timings.

It really depends on what you got rather than the brand as a whole in this case.

I have 3 sticks of kingston PC133 256 megs, infineon chips. I've run them as high as 147 mhz cas 3 and they check out in memtest. Didn't try for more.

I've an oem memory (chips are from Elixir) and i can get 153Mhz of bus with them at cas 2,2,2,5,1 and default voltage!
Not bad for a pc2100 OEM

All though I don't OC my systems. I'm running (2) 256mb Kingston PC2100 and my system is stable like a rock. I think they are a nice brand if you don't like oc'ing your system.

I would agree. I "had" a pair of kingston PC800 RDRAM modules and they did not like to be overclocked in the slightest. ;)

Hynix is OK, but I don't like it as much as the Nanyas, Infineons, and other such chips that you can find on standard RAM today. It just seems to me to be of a cheaper make and doesn't overclock quite as well as some other chips.

I have a stick of 256mb Kingston 2100 ValueRam (Nanya) in one of my systems. If I remember correctly, it maxes out at about 150FSB w/my setup. I've tried different configuration speed settings, and for practical purposes, run it @ around 147 FSB or so. I usually use Samsung, Crucial, ect. and don't skimp out on memory, but I have to say that this ValueRam has never given me any problems (that I know of anyway). I also agree, if your not overclocking I think it's a good deal.
