Quality of JVC RPTV's?

I am looking at spending no more than $1500 and found a 56" JVC and 51" Hitachi at Sears. I did not look at them but my wife did and likes the picture quality of the JVC better, but I am not familiar with JVC's and have not found any reviews except at Circuit City.

Anyone have any experience with the lower end units (not DLP, LCD or plasma)?

whats wrong with getting another mitsu? I've owned sony, hitachi and now a mitsu RPTV, and if I have to buy another TV, I will get another mitsubishi.

Wow, considering JVC over Mitsu... If you really need to get something else and you want something mid to low end - look at Toshiba. Thay consistanly make the best low price electronics, and they tend to be pretty competitive when it comes to quality. You could always get a Sony, but their low end stuff is junk, and you still have to pay the premium.

But honestly, the Mitsubishi RPTVs are by far the best on the market.

I was just a bit jaded by the fact that the main board in my 8 year-old Mitsu has been resoldered twice, once under warranty and then once paid for by me, so that kinda turned me off to them. I guess I should not rule another one out and look at them in person.

Sears does have a 51" Mitsubishi on their site with similar specs.

But is there anything inherently wrong buying a JVC, if I find the picture quality better?
