I have had my Logitech MX300 for about 5 years now...and my kittens decided to eat the cord on it....sad, I loved that mouse, the only thing I never had to upgrade in my computer all of these years....I picked one up 8 months ago for 1 penny on ebay, with shipping of a few bucks, which was amazing, but that one is strictly for my laptop...

I was able to play in CAL P matches with it, BF2 matches, and other intense FPS games.

I LOVED the simplicity of it, the solid feel...where can I buy another one, or what is one similiar...I would like to stay logitech if possible, never been a fan of microsofts, they seem flimsy.

few things to add....I hate mouse acceleration, I hate millions of buttons, I hate huge mice...I want something simple, that works quick and well :D

picking out a new mouse will be like picking out a new car for me....as its the most interactive thing I use with the computer...I even carry a spare MX300 to work ^_^.

I think you can replace the cord, if I'm not mistaken it uses the same as the MX5xx. Check with Logy-tech.

I don't know what the MX300 looks like, but a MX510 or MX518 might have a similar design.

Well if its only a damaged cord...you could probably solder + heatshrink it. But that might look a bit ghetto.

You'll definitely want the little secret that is the Logitech G3

Exact same shape as the MX300.

I loved the MX300 as well...unfortunately the drivers weren't supported in Vista, so I had to make the move.

You just need to get used to the grippy plastic feel on the lower half of the mouse as well as the 2 extra buttons. It's the same awesome and simple shape though.

If you are really against extra buttons. You can try to see if you can find an "imported" Logitech G1. :Q

not at all similar in designs.

the G1 looks awesome, I think I will look for one, even though I got a G5 already.

The g5 is great, quick access speed up and speed down your sensitivity. I liked the grip feel....it's neat feeling a heavier mouse and a lighter mouse (by removing / adding weights )

as much as I hate a million buttons on my mouse...this one seems perfect as well, but I will keep looking for an MX300 anyway, as well as a G1, those look neat.

I got the newer revision of the G5, with the better scrolly as I heard they have had issues with those.

If you want, pm me ... I can probably fix the cord for you ... all you would need to send is the
cord itself ... or the whole mouse. Let me know if I can be of help .. I am in Northern, NJ area

You'd have to hold a gun to my head to get me to give up my MX510 or MX700. The MX518 is the same as the 510, with a bit better DPI I believe.

I also love my MX 510. You should check out the new logitech mouse article on the anandtech main page.

razer mice tend to have the symetrical and simplistic feel with only 2 side buttons on each side. i have a diamondback right now, but i wouldn't mind having an IE3.0 right now :)
oh and [+] for being cal-p lol.
