Im looking for suggestions on a good DC inverter for my Jeep. I would like to power up my laptop as well as a cell phone and a few other small devices and would like to get a good inverter with a nice, clean signal, and not a crappy radio shack unit. I know some are better than others for this, but just not sure which ones to steer away from. I was looking around the 200-350W range, any suggestions?

I bought a Xantrex unit at Fry's last year for a road trip to Taos, NM. I bought a 200 watt unit of this device:

Xantrex 500W @ $69.99

I ran my laptop (to watch movies) all the way there... :D

nice, thats exactly what I want it for. fire up the dvd player on long road trips when theres nothing to look at on the NYS Thruway except cows and dirty side towns. I have heard on some lower end inverters that put out dirty signals that have their output frequency off a bit and you can see the cycle crawl across the screen of the computer.
Im actually going to be driving from Columbus OH to Boston in a few weeks with my buddy. We want the laptop to ride shotgun for navigation too

One reason I recommended the higher wattage unit...

I think my laptop was at the edge of the power requirements for the smaller 200 watt unit I had, and the unit's alarm would sound intermittently. Being a cheap &@$t@&d, I just disconnected the small buzzer inside the unit. I didn't have any problems with the laptop playing movies though. :D

If you get the 500 watt, I don't think you'll have any trouble.
