I am looking to get some new rims on my car once my tires need replacing (within a year). My current rims are some crappy cast chrome plated things that are very heavy and do not balance out well at all. To get them to balance at all decently they have 40g weights on the exterior of the rims.

I would love to get some BMW M parallels (style 37s) on my car, but they are about $1000 used (in varying condition) and about $2000 new from Deutschland. Other forged rims are in that price range as well. So I think I want to get some more reasonably priced rims, which means cast, but I want to make sure I get quality.

So what companies make quality cast rims? Reviews for individual rims are all over the place, some of the manufacturers don't even have websites or google turns up basically nothing about them.

Enkei, weds, work, gram lights, ssr

I am big fan of enkei.. I have gtc01, rpf1, nt03+m, and rc-t4 wheels between my cars.
Pretty sure you are talking a grand/set of four.... so if that seems like a lot, you are going to be sol on any cast wheel I consider "quality". I would expect to pay 200-300/wheel for a decent set ; obviously depending on size

$1k for 4 wheels isn't bad.

New, the ones on mine cost more than that apiece. I was happy to find a set of 4 for $2k that had a few hundred miles on them for a spare set (+ I got tpm sensors and another set of tires thrown in)

Defacto 'what is the year/make/model of the car'?

In my experience, quality aftermarket wheels are at least 2x the cost of OEM otherwise they're heavy, bendable, or have a poor finish on them.

Ahh... for an e39 aftermarket wheels are a waste, in my opinion. Keep an eye out on craigslist for oem take offs, there are a ton out there.

E34 actually :p I have been checking bimmer forums for OEM rims. There are tons, but it seems they all have curb rash, bent, or need to be refinished. So I was looking to grab new wheels to avoid that side of the lottery.

Also I hate the look or most OEM bmw rims, with the exception of style 37s, and those definitely are not cheap.

The poster above with brand recommendations, that is what I was looking for out of this thread. Ill also take a look at tireracks sport wheels.

Manimal, i am located in San Francisco.

I love Rota if you're going to try to be cheap

I know their are horror stories about Rota but I put my slipstreams through some absolute horror and they survived without a hitch

Although they may not have anything that's your style

rotas aren't bad wheels, unless you have a problem with them ripping off the styles of other brands. Still, you are looking at a couple hundred a wheel or more depending on size. I always feel I can find a good set of enkeis for not a whole lot more than rotas
