Qualcomm show their 7nm 5G chips with many products rumored to be ready to go. Is intel's 10nm disaster killing Apple from a delay for their 5G parts?

Intel's 8160 is being fabbed at TSMC. So problem solved?

Also I'm surprised Qualcomm went back to the Snapdragon 855 name. I had thought they had bifurcated the 855 into the 8150 (mobile) and 8180 (replaces Snapdragon 850).

The 850 replacement is now the 8cx: https://techreport.com/news/34310/qualcomm-8cx-soc-steps-up-for-the-next-always-connected-pcs

As to the original topic- 5G rollout has barely started, and the first wave of 5G products are bulky and expensive. I don't think waiting a year for 5G will really hurt Apple.

It's two actually if you think about it... since Apple won't be using the 8160 in the 2019 iPhone it appears.

But yes, this first wave of 5G products Apple would not use.

No? Do you remember the first wave of 4G products? They sucked.

Plus 4G is plenty fast, and I doubt uses will perceive much of a difference.
