Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 USB cable

Hi, I have a Samsung Note 4 and looking at buying a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 Tenergy 18W Turbo USB Universal AC Wall Adaptive Fast Chager. Are there special USB cables you have to get to take advantage of this technology? I see Quick Charge 2.0 cables listed on Amazon and I see other standard USB cables with reviews saying that they work with Quick Charge 2.0. Are Quick Charge cables design different? Thanks.

I think newer USB 2.0 (28/24 gauge cables, around 2 amps max through USB cable from what I've seen) or USB 3.0 (5 amps) cables allow for the higher amperage that the quick charge adapters put out (1.5 amps, depending on which one you get). So if you have a relatively recently made USB cable and not an older or cheaper one, it should be able to work fine with the quick charger.

A lot of older USB 2.0 cables or ones made for lower power devices max out at 0.5 amps (500mA). If you are using the original USB cable that came with the Note 4, I think that's a 2 amp campable cable, so you should be good to go. The adapter that shipped with Note 4 should already do quick charging (though Samsung probably has it's own name for it) since it's a 2 amp one, so don't expect to get faster charging than that, if that's what you are looking for.

I think quick charge is different, like you want a 15 minute half charge. I have read the best one so far is the Moto one, I kinda want one for my M8 as the stock cable sucks.

The charger they ship with the M8 is a 1.0 amp one, if I'm not mistaken. You could easily use a 2.0 amp charger with it, as the M8 supports Quick Charge. I don't think Motorola's charger or implementation in their phones like the Turbo is better than any of the other phones that support Quick Charge.

Are you talking about the cable or the AC adapter? I'm pretty sure most cables themselves can handle the increased current but you have to have the right AC adapter to take advantage of the quick charge.

FWIW I've been using a random USB cable I had laying around with the quick charge adapter that came with my Note 4 and it works perfectly fine.
