So this chip will work with all 40 bands? Simultaneously? Don't know about that as you need an amp for each frequency right?

Anyway, I think this is a good step forward. Those of you who have seen my posts in the past, I'm very upset regarding the whole fragmentation of LTE frequencies or cellular frequencies in general. If we can't have united frequencies, at least this is a decent solution.

Here's to hoping the next Nexus has global LTE? Or near global LTE? I'd like to see what Apple throws out too as they're the closest to being able to roam the world with LTE at the moment.

So if I understand this correctly this chip can support all the lte frequencies as well as the many various 2 and 3g technologies (gsm and cdma)

So the only thing stopping it from supporting most of the world cellular networks is the antenna inside the phone has to support the frequencies as well?

Yeah, even if the chip supports it, the antenna needs to be able to receive it. Isn't this why the N4 can only handle the Canadian LTE frequencies?
