The Mobile Station Modem™ (MSM™) MSM8260™ and MSM8660™ solutions integrate two of the Company’s enhanced cores running at up to 1.2GHz. Targeted at enabling high-end smartphones, the MSM8x60 solutions are third-generation chipsets from the Company’s expanded Snapdragon platform, which has been powering smartphones, tablets and smartbook devices in markets around the world.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon family of chipset solutions includes:
• First-generation products: QSD8x50™ with 1GHz enhanced core
• Second-generation products: MSM8x55™ and QSD8x50A™ with 1GHz enhanced core, including multimedia optimizations and 1.3GHz enhanced core, respectively
• Third-generation products: MSM8260, MSM8660 and QSD8672 with dual-CPU architecture featuring enhanced cores running at up to 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz, respectively

We need to get better battery life before more speed. 1gHz snapdragon is enough for now, lets focus on getting it to run longer

Honestly, I think some of it has to do with form factor and the obsession with thin-ness.

For example, my Droid has a keyboard is definitely thicker than the iPhone, Nexus One, etc.

If one didn't need a keyboard, you could put that sliding keyboard thickness to battery and double battery life instead.

Yep. EVO 4g is a perfect example. Really thin, with 1500MaH batt. and it has that thick camera protruding out the back like 1.5mm. If they had made the whole phone 2mm thicker, they could have rewored things to fit like a 1800 or 2000mAh batt in instead, while making the camera recessed AND having room to add like 8gb onboard flash. Would make it a much better phone overall imo

Yep, if they'd have made the phone a bit thicker they could have used a larger battery and also protected the lens better. At 2mm thicker and redistributing the guts around a bit they could have used a much larger battery in the 3000mAHr range or even larger. But, with so many folks worried that the Evo is WAY TOO BIG it's not hard to see why they opt for the thinner, less useful package.

A 3000mAH battery is going to be over 50gr, 80mm long, 50mm wide and 8mm thick alone. It's highly unlikely you are going to see 3000mAH batteries.
