Hey guys,

The place I get my truck's oil changes at get gets Quaker state in bulk and I can get a full synthetic oil change for about 47 bucks for my F-150.

I usually get mobile 1 every 8000-9000 miles or so, but that's like 15 bucks more than QS. So last time, I switched to QS.

This is a long winded way to ask whatcha think about QS synthetic vs mobile 1. Is m1 worth 15 bucks more for 12 year old truck?

They're probably all six and half a dozen of each other. Some might have different additives but they all lube the same.

Plus... add to that that your oil change intervals with these newer engines and oil compositions are far longer... $15 over that time isn't much more when you think about it. I'd say you are fine with either one, but if you are that sensitive to $15, go with the Quaker State.

Well, if you're up for doing it yourself, you could save and still use Mobil.

Walmart sells a 5 qt jug for $26.50, add an oil filter, and the difference is about $20.

Granted, you'll probably need some supplies, but all in all, it's not a bad thing to do yourself.

At my Walmart Mobil 1 is over $10 more per 5 qt jug then QS Ultimate.
FWIW, I have been using only QS Ultimate for the past 2 years with no problems and I change oil every 6,500 - 7,500 miles.

For some reason, I think my walmarts don't carry that as often. Most full synthetics are about $20+, so I just spend the extra $6 and go with Mobil 1.

QS synthetic is fine. I have used it a few times and I trust it. It is a Shell umbrella product and you can trust it no doubt.
