Not sure if it wasnt available in 1.1 or not, but I've been editing the cfg file to add in 1680x1050 support up until I just reinstalled Q4 to finish it up and after patching it was pleasantly surprised to see widescreen resolutions being selectable from the menu system, negating the need for a cfg edit.
This is a nice development, no FOV changes needed, no file editing. I wondered if they'd add this so we didnt have to do it manually.
Looks like Quake Wars will support widescreen res natively OOTB like this too, not even file config changed needed
I did bootup Q4 without any patches and the initial verison allowed you to select 16:9 but did not let you actually select a widescreen version. Forcing the cfg change was then necessary.
Good news for those who push for widescreen being integrated tightly with the popular engines. I dont mind changing res in a file but never did know the "correct" FOV to use so this simplifies matters and pushes widescreen gaming further out of the shadows.
Oh, and my saved games did work going to 1.2 even though they say they shouldnt.
Quake Wars! Finally a "Battlefield" type game with widescreen. I shelved my copy of BF2 because I honestly have more fun in CSS+Q4 (and both happen to have native widescreen support without chopping).
