Ok, i checked previous threads, and one or two touched upon how to set up servers (FTP), and i tried those settings and got nowhere. I have a feeling its one little thing i'm missing, or doing wrong. I'm trying to accomplish setting up a public server from behind a Linksys BEFSR41 Router. I understand the basics, and have had this working in the past but i cant figure it out for the life of me now. I have the server computer set to a static IP of 192.168.1.103. the other two are automatically assigned. On the forwarding tab of the router i have PORT RANGE FORWARDING. On this screen i have a column "Customized Applications" and in that space i wrote "Quake3". then i have "Ext.Port". with a _____ to _____. i wrote in 27960 to 27960. then under protocol i checked "TCP" AND "UDP" both. Under IP address i filled in the last space as 103, and finally checked "enable". i applied those settings and started the server, but the server only shows in "local" will not come up in the public list of 2000 some servers. There is also apage called UPnP Forwarding, which i filled in similar settings and tried and still got the same results, and another page called port triggering, which i filled in the same settings and still got the same results, i am completely stumped. all machines are windows XP
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks!
i will provide any additional info, or even screenies if needed
