Quake II Benchmarks

Wow. That was fun.

My p3 1gz runs quake2 faster then some 3d cards did back in teh day at 640x480😀. A whopping 47.2 fps.

Hey, someone with a GeForce 3 bench this game. Lets see how fast we can get it to go. My radeon does 173fps at 640x480.

only 60fps at 1600x1200 tho 🙁

Oh well, it was fun.

Just amazing how much faster we have gone with our stuff. 😕

How do you bench quake 2? Whats the demo file name? Lets have a contest! See who can get the most fps in quake 2 software rendering. It would be fun.

I bet I could go for, perhaps, the lowest. I have some old 386's and 486's at home. Install on a fast machine, so it installs...then switch the HD to the slower comp 😉

Or, I could just run it on the Itanium with x86 compatability mode 😉

Open the console (~), then type "timedemo 1" without the quotes

press enter

type "map demo1.dm2"

press enter

let the demo run

then afterwards, it will say xx fps

Hymmmmm.....I'd love to join in the fun of running software-rendered Quake2, but I don't own it, and all the links I've found to the demo are dead 🙁

Oops! Those were Default OpenGL
Here's Software

640X480 = 41.3 fps
800X600 = 31.1 fps
1024X768 = 21.5 fps
1600X1200 = 10.7 fps
