Quake Champions

*funny joke about the ESR website going down because of jizz in the servers*

better go check on those guys.

Why would they pick distinctive abilities? It's the way overwatch went, so the idea in Quake champions would to be add an extra layer of complexity using team composition etc?

I was a Quake 3 Arena tournament player (and winner) and I guess they try to add complexity in the team element of the game more than the twitch reaction, but unsure how I'll enjoy it.

have to cater to all the MMO kiddies that need to upgrade twinkets and shit.

what a let down.

i still play quake 2 to this day and yearn for a q1/q2 MP remake or an attempt at least, this isn't it.

Unfortunately straight arena shooters won't sell, you need to be able to upgrade something and if it's similar to Overwatch, it'll be just cosmetic which is fine with me.

Next up I wish we'd get a new Unreal Tournament.

Time marches forward. If you want to play old school quake then you can. There is absolutely no reason to use the exact same gameplay with just modern graphics. Doom showed what those guys can do to keep the feel of the older game but bring the franchise current with all the advancements in gameplay over the last 20 years.

If you want to make a completely different game, don't use an old IP as some sort of sacrificial vessel then. They are dragging Quake through the mud, so I say the more slung back at them, the better.

“It’s everything from input sampling of the mouse to making sure that your monitor refresh rate is fast enough,” he told Gamespot. “Because even with Quake Live, we have found throughout the years that going from 30 to 60 is huge, but even 60 to 120–is noticeable.”

“Most of us, and even me, I can’t really tell the difference,” Willits added. “But there are some players who are inhuman. And we can’t come out and say we’re going to make a game for them and not run ridiculously fast.

“Because if we lose the pro guys, we’re in trouble.”

Being able to reach 120 frames-per-second and more, is why one of the things Willits is keen on making possible. “That’s why it’s a PC game. No excuses. No limitations,” he added.
120 FPS+ doesn't mean that it will be a good game, and that is what counts, not how fast you can display stuff.
