Quake 3A CD KEY

I have a lan set up at home that I want to play Q3A accross. Does this mean that I have to purchase a second game? Is there any way around this? I have tried it w/the same cd, but it hangs at "Verifying CD Key..." Arrggg!
 
install it normally, then start q3 with the cd on one computer, wait till it loads up, take the cd out, and start it up in the next computer.
 
Ok, not sure why, but I was able to play on both computers today. Now it wont work again. I have reinstalled all my network protocols and plan to give it another go. Thanks for the help. 🙂
