My son just bought Quake 3 and it installed and runs fine on our 2 main systems, a pair of MSI 6309 motherboards with Geforce 2 MX video cards, one is a Celeron 600@900 and the other a PIII 600@744. They are expecting a friend and wanted all 3 systems to be able to play over the LAN, so tried installing it on the Soyo SY7IWM/L Intel 810
with Celeron 366 and Voodoo 3 3000 PCI card. It won't run. The error message it gives is user interface version 4, expected 3! What the heck does that mean? We tried downloading the wicked gl drivers from wicked 3d .com and still get the same error on startup on the Quake 3. Any ideas? Is Quake 3 incompatible with the Voodoo 3 cards? It is quite a shock to me since I always believed the V3 could run any game without problems. Am I wrong in assuming it is video card related? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Run the automatic openGL configuration utility included on the CD.

Re-install the point release which was previously installed. If you don't know which version it was, check and make sure all three systems are running the same version, either 1.17 or 1.27g.
