Games don't &quot;max out&quot; at any certain fps rate. The performance you get is determined only by your system and not the game itself. If you set the monitor's refresh rate to 60 and turn Vsync on, then your fps will also be limited to 60 fps. If you have a really fast PC and disable Vsync, you may get 500 fps.

Yes, you're correct in most cases, but have you ever played Half-Life, or any mods for the game (Counter-strike)? The Half-Life engine is ultimately limited to 99fps. This is not the case with Q3, however. Bigbootydaddy confused HL/CS for Q3 probably
