I am having trouble running Quake 3 on my son's computer Every time I try to run the program I get a Opengl subsys error message and then the program crashes. I have all the latest Detonator drives and Quake 3 patches installed.

Could also try to disable OpenGL extensions, run it just in Direct3D mode.

Its OpenGL only. Cant run in D3D.
But it needs latest DirectX to be installed on the system.

I guess the problem is driver mixup.Have you used CL drivers before?
Make sure you deleted those completely. Also 6.xx arent the best for TNT2.
Go back to 5.xx .

Quake 3 needs Direct X 7 to run and you can find it on the game CD. Microsoft also has a newer version, Direct X 7A on their website. I am using that and the game works fine. Note that if you disable the OpenGL extensions you may solve the problems but the game will play somewhat slower.

IMHO I think your best bet is to uninstall Q3. Reinstall Nvidia drivers(Detonator 5.xx) then install DirectX 7.0A, and reinstall the game.
