Quake 3 in LINUX wont start

Hi,

Just tried to install Quake 3 Arena in Mandrake 8.1.
What I did was install the Q3 patch 1.30 to user/local/games/quake3/
Then copied pak0.pak from my CDBackup of the Windows Q3 Directory.

I clicked on one of the icons in the Quake 3 directory and this is what happens;

- It runs something.
- Then im back on the desktop and
- The resolution changes (Monitor clicked)
- I can move the desktop around the screen b moving the mouse (cuz some of the screen isnt showing due to the resolution change)

Can anyone help me out.
Im a real newbie just making my first attempt at a game in Linux..

Is there a command i should type at a terminal.
instead of clicking the icon in Konqueror(file manager)

A lot of information is spit out to the console, so it might be helpful in determining what the problem is.
