QUAKE 3 DEMO FPS QUESTION?

how do i run quake-3 to test framerate speed of video card? also how do i run a benchmark program to test speed of my puter?

when you get to the menu
1. press "~"
2. type in "timedemo 1"
3. type in "demo demo001" or "demo demo002" there are only 2 demos that I know of in the quake 3 demo version.
4. after the demo runs, press "~" and it will tell you the fps...

BTW... when I say "~" I mean just the key.... you don't need to press shift + `

for quakey3Aey, you do what Send Trash listed Instruction number 1,2, but not 3. You are wasting your time. after done with 2, just click on one of the demos you want.

q3a built-in benchy is good for overall video-PC test. but there's no match for sisoft sandra series. Dont you have one???.. You ought to.

Benchmarking,
If done correctly it doesn't really matter what the utility is.
Q3 is an excellent benchmark as long as you know what the attributes are for all pc's you are comparing to, thats the tough part. Many people disable sound, turn off features then say thier card is faster.
But Q3 can be a very good indicator of what youe system is capable of.

3D Mark 2000 , if you are comparing similar cards to each other it's a great benchmark.
Just don't compare a V5 to a Nvidia card. Without T&L the V5 gets smoked.

SiSoft Sandra is a nice set of utilities. But there are lots of versions floating around and it's difficult to compare.

A decent benchmark is at www.winmag.com Look for Wintune and run it. You can compare it to others that have a system like yours.
