Hello everybody,

Quake3 Arena used to install perfectly on my old system (P200MMX, 128MB RAM, Voodoo3). Now, I have upgrdaded to a Thunderbird 1GHz on an Eopx 8K7A with a Radeon LE. I am using the same CD, and the same CD-ROM Drive.

Whenever I select maximum install, it gives me an error when it reaches 96% "Error -117". When I select minimum installation, it installs ok, but when I try to run the game, the console stops and says "Can't load default.cfg".

I really need to get this fixed, I miss Q3A.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you tried copying the contents of the drive to your drive, then installing? Sounds like the CD is scratched. Mine did, good thing I made a backup of it :)

Oh Sh*t! The CD-ROM is scrachted :(

The strange thing is that yesterday, I tried to install it on minimum, and it worked fine. I tired running it today, and I got the default.cfg error :(

Thanks...

try this:
manually create a "quake III arena" folder in program files
and in that, create another folder called "baseq3"
then manually copy the the pak0.pk3 and pak1.pk3 files from the CD-ROM baseq3 folder, into the baseq3 on your harddrive.
Then download the latest point release from id's site and install it.
That should work

ApacheXMD, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

And yes, I have formatted and installed everything from scratch. I am using Win2k at the moment.
