Hiya,

I just upgraded from a geforce 2mx 440 to a Radeon 9500 Pro.
Okay.. I know this Radeon is better than my old card.. but I am getting the same FPS in Quake 3 Arena
as my old card.
I must be doing something wrong.

System is a P4 2.4b @3.1
1 gig PC2700
Agp apature set at 256 MB

I havent tried the timedemos because I can't remember the command to start them,
but while playing the game my FPS hangs in the 90's.

I was really looking forward to seeing awsome frame rates.
Any advice??

Thanks
Rich

Did you completely remove all traces of your nVidia card?
Also check your control panel and make sure you don't have FSAA, vsync or turform enabled.

timedemo 1
demo four

Ah, there's your problem right there. Quake III has a default framerate cap of 90 FPS during the game. To disable it, use com_maxFPS 0 either in the console or in the config file.

Thanks BFG10K!!

I always did want to see frame rates in the hundreds! :p

I tried the com_maxFPS command and it works like a charm.
Frame rates now between 200 and 300 during play.

Peace
Rich
