I believe the FX540 is a GeForce 6600GT, the FX700 is a GeForce FX5900 and the FX1100 is a GeForce FX5700U (but don't quote me on that).

yeah, but you can't soft-mod dual link DVI. It also doesn't work for PCI-e cards yet (that I know of)

Not sure if the 540 has dvi-DL, but the 1100 and the 700 do IIRC.

The 540 is probably not a 6600GT, but rather a regular 6600. The RAM is GDDR, not GDDR3.

The Rivatuner hack used to work, but not so much anymore. Nvidia has a new core revision on the 6600 series that won't mod at all. I unfortunately got stuck with one on my 6600GT I bought a few weeks ago, so these new cores are common.
So people know the new 6600 core is the NV43 Rev. A4. All A2 and A1's that I've read about seem to be moddable. You can use Rivatuner to see which NV43 you have.

The NV40 seems to be the same way, some of them mod but the later ones won't. Unwinder over at the guru3d forums has a new NVstrap he's working on and released to a few people, but it's not widely available yet.

If a person needs the pro capabilities, these are good deals. Too bad the 540 isn't made in AGP or I might jump on it.

Sure, the information is in this forum in general:

http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.p...a7b971cee65eee874d2d3a3d7ce&forumid=18

but the info is in many threads...

This one is good, but refers to a 6800. The same thing is done for a 6600 excpet for changing the PCI device ID to a quadro 540.

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php...3482d98bc35f9b3370c479&threadid=122413

One thing to remember is that this hurts gaming performance. Unless you use certain apps it won't do you any good at all. But if you do use those pro apps the performance sometimes is doubled or more. I've even seen UG benchmarks go up by a factor of 6X.

There are some benchs in the forums in places too.
