I decided to upgrade my Inspiron 8600. I had an ATI Radeon M9 9000 32MB. I replaced it with an nVidia Quadro Go FX 700 128MB (FX5600 based). I expected a HUGE performance boost. What I got was somewhat disappointing. Barely any difference in CS 1.6 and World of Warcraft, frame-rate wise.

I've done some digging, this place says that the Quadro FX Go 700 has a default 300/300 Core/Memory. ExtremeTech says that it should clock at 295/295. I looked at my nvidia OmegaDrivers and its clocking in at a measely 120/250 Core/Memory and maxing out at 240Mhz Core. I tried the Dell drivers, but I opened WoW and performance was HALF that of the OmegaDrivers.

Does anyone know where to get good Quadro FX Go700 drivers that correctly identify my card?

Thanks.

Quadro is not optimised for gaming to start with, but those clocks are definitely odd. Quadro have always used unified driver architecture, so the standard drivers on the Nvidia website should work fine.

did you check those clocks with the laptop plugged in? i know it sounds obvious but i have done that before. Get annoyed that my clocks are so low and then realize its not plugged in all the way. Most mobile cards clock waay down for mobile use and those clocks look about right for that situation.

Always plugged in.

I realize Quadro's are not used for gaming. However, the quadro 700 is just a FX5600 with a few more features. In theory, it should be just as fast as a FX5600. I've owned a TI4200 before, and I'm pretty sure an FX5600 should at least do as good as THAT.
