Our engineering team is in need of a hardware upgrade. Most of them already have new computers, and now I'm looking for a multi display solution. I have purchased a batch of 24" monitors for them, but now I have to decide on the graphics cards.

The Quadro FX 570 by PNY is almost twice the price of a 8600GT. My question is if it's really all that it is cracked up to be. They use Mechanical Desktop 2007 and Inventor 11.

I have to buy 5 cards, so the price difference between the Quadro and GeForce is substantial.

Please don't post online deals as I live outside of the US.

Thanks a lot!

If you are doing real engineering work, I'd always go with the quadro.

Support from Autodesk + nVidia and overall higher stability.

I worked for a Autodesk reseller which had technical support, whenever we found issues relating to improper graphic cards they would lose support.

I've seen alot of problems from having low end "gaming" cards for CAD.

Thanks for your reply. I'll see if I can get a better price on the Quadros.

And yes, they are doing real engineering work, think about robotic palletizing cells, automation systems and so on. It's been ok until this day, but now they're dealing with very large projects that requiere really large assemblies.
