I know one is a workstation card and the other one is a regular computer card. But for the same price, would you get the Quadro 4 or the mx4000? What about the Volari V3? The Chaintech Volari V3 card outperform the mx4000 by almost 50 percent. Plus it has dual output and built-in support for HDTV. All three cost around $50, which one do you think is good? I am inclining toward the Quadro 4 and the Volari V3. Just can't decide. Help please.

No, I don't do a lot of gaming. The games I usually play don't require a lot of GPU power.

If you don't play games then I'd go for either an ATI or Matrox card for 2D quality.

Or a used geforce 3 or 4 ti 4200 in case you change your mind about the gaming, or the new version of something you play requires more 3D than quake 2.

For gaming, much worse (if it will even run games at all). For workstation apps, it will be much faster since it has a driver to accelerate them whereas the gaming cards don't.

There may be a way to mod the GF4 into a workstation card.

SoftQuadro, but that won't change the DAC quality or speed. :p

An NVS280 will actually be sufficient for games - it's a 4MX but with 128-bit DDR. But if all you do is 2D for "workstation" - just get a Matrox PCI card and a regular gaming-grade AGP. 2D on the Matrox, game on whatever you drop in AGP.

Thank you all for the response. That was a great. I decided to get the Chaintec Volari V3, because ocbench reviews showed it faster and better quality than the geforece mx4000. In fact it can play Doom 3 at low res and medium resolution.. It also has HDTV support for the same price.
