Found this but not sure if its hot or not at CENTRIX
Here are the specs at INTEL

You can also put 4 Pentium II 400 XEON for $19 each HERE

Let me know if this is a good deal. Thanks

I wouldn't do this unless you know what you are getting yourself into :) While that's a nice mb, you require a special case to be able to cool 4x Xeon's as the CPU's come with just heatsinks, no fans they require specific airflow pattern to be able to do the job ie there is generally a specially cut piece of foam that molds around the cpu's and the inside of the case and blocks airflow from all but the correct pattern. Also you would need some VRM's (5 if I remember correctly, been a while since I built one), and also the memory riser card to be able to plug RAM into. It's really not a good choice for a home system, you would be better off with a single faster processor or a good dual board.

It's a good deal for the technology- but the memory riser cards are difficult to find and expensive as well! I don't think the VRM's would be tough to find though- although expect to pay about $40 a pop for em. If anyone has some memory riser cards for this lemme know, I'll buy them from ya!

Weird, I see a few Dual CPU boards on that page but no quad CPU boards. Was it removed recently or am I blind? I do like their "In stock or it's FREE!" guarantee :p

I totally agree -- do not buy this setup unless you can truthfully say that you understand everything about making a quad xeon server. If you have any doubts, then this is too complicated (and expensive). You can't just stick in four Xeon processors and go.

Holy crap...4 intel xeons....parallel processing....
Those xeons get really hot if you don't know how to cool it down...unless you build it in a fridge. :D ....Wait for the dual TB....
Peace!!

Don't forget you need a specail motherboard and retention mechanisms for the procs- tempting to set it up like my first BBS, just a 386 mobo screwed to a plywood board in a garage....

How many times is someone gonna post this same item...

Once again: This is a BAD deal. This is a specialized motherboard
that requires a special riser board for the memory (riser board
not included). The motherboard/riser board will not fit in any
standard case. You need to get a Cabrillo server case, which is
next to impossible to find and would be very pricey if found.
The board takes EDO dimms which are much more expensive than
SDRAM.

This board is really worthless to anyone except someone that owns
some SC450NX/Cabrillo servers and needs backup/replacement boards.

I own a few SC450NXs. They are nice 4 processor Xeon boxes.
But not for the faint of heart, and NOT a "cheap" way to get
into Xeons. If you pay the money for the server (which comes
with 3 power supplies and 11 fans, as well as a 6 drive hot
swap bay), you aren't gonna cheap out and buy those crappy
PII 400Mhz/512kb Xeons. You're gonna either buy 4 x PII 450Mhz/2Mb
Xeons (the cheapest sensible solution) or go for faster PIII Xeons.

Again, this motherboard by itself is not a hot deal. Move on.
