i was trying to setup 4 monitors on my XP Pro machine, so far ive gotten 3 up and running fine, but the video card for the 4th doesnt seem to work, its an old trident pci card, and my other pci video card wont work with it either, (but they do work if they are used without other video cards present) ... anyways, when i go to device manager and go to the video card's properites, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" it also says that with the other pci video card i have, so far the ones that have worked are my defualt radeon 8500 (dual display agp) and my voodoo 3 2000 PCI card. any idea would help....thanx in advance....

Not all VGA cards are multi-VGA capable, and what you observe there is exactly what happens if it isn't.

If you need some extra cheap PCI card for another head, get one of those ancient SiS 6326 cards that are like $20 new, these are multi-VGA capable alright.

Or, if money isn't so much of an issue, ditch all the old stuff and get another Radeon - there's a dualhead PCI Radeon 7500LE from PowerColor (model code RV2P).

lol, the other pci card i have that doesnt work is an sis 6326, which isnt working for mult-monitors, do i have to mess with jumpers on the card or something?

lol indeed ... get the latest drivers for the SiS thing from www.sis.com. I've seen SiS 6326 (onboard a PC-Chips M590) run multi-VGA alright, and I don't remember applying any wizardry to get it to do so.

Maybe your Voodoo PCI card is holding the other two back? Tried any combinations without that one yet?

Could be a problem with your ATI card. ATI does not support the use of an additional PCI graphic card in a system with the RADEON VE/RADEON 7500/RADEON 8500.

This is from the FAQ section at ATI site.

Q26: Can I use a PCI graphics card, in the same system as my dual display RADEON VE/RADEON 7500/RADEON 8500, to support three or more displays?

A26: ATI does not support the use of an additional PCI graphic card in a system with the RADEON VE/RADEON 7500/RADEON 8500. These products do support the use of two independent displays, from a single card, under the Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems.

So I think you were lucky to get another PCI card working in the same system as your Radeon 8500!
