I need a video card that will do four monitors. Matrox makes one, the G200 but its kind of expensive. Any other alternatives? Could I use a dual output AGP card then a dual PCI card, would that work? TIA
I don't see why a dual AGP and dual PCI card (or even just two dual PCI cards) wouldn't work. The only advantage to a single four-monitor card is that you can probably "span" the display to make programs treat it like one large monitor instead of four smaller ones. If all you want is to have four independent displays hooked up to the machine, using two cards will work fine.
IIRC, the Matrox drivers are written to treat all Matrox cards of a series as a "single logical card". So if you got two G200 Duals, they'd work in pairs.
But Dualhead AGP + Dualhead PCI is probably your best (and cheapest) bet.
