Quad core / retina display for under $200 ..what am I missing ?

The reject panel issue is overblown IMO if the Korean 2560x1440 monitors are any indication. But yeah expect nonexistent support for updates or even premature deaths.

Sigh I can't believe with how affordable Nexus, Kindle and Nook tablets are people still need to cheap out over ~$30.

By all means please go ahead buy the China tablet. As we all know the spec sheet is all that matters.

I'm not familiar with the SoC, but my guess is it is almost certainly a quad A7 processor, that's going to be slower than quad A9s like the Tegra 3. This thing will probably on on the same performance level as a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 or Nook HD.

Build quality will probably be pretty cheap of course.

...and looks like they have the battery issue ironed out so
Do they? All I see are comments from people saying things like "Unacceptable battery life" and "less than one and half hours only using Google chrome..." etc. etc.

And a bigger issue for me with these cheap crap tablets isn't just battery life in the short term that can be pretend-fixed with software, it's battery life in the long term, as in, one of the biggest ways they cut corners is by using the shittiest batteries possible, meaning it will die sooner rather than later and eventually won't hold a charge long enough to keep the device usable. It sounds like it's already one of those POS tablets that even 'turned off' on what you think is a full charge, you'll pick it up after a few days of non-use to find it completely drained.

f it were $50, then sure, why not, but in my book $190 is too much to gamble, especially when there are so many better choices from reputable makers for near the same price.

Ha !

I just scored a 1 month old nook hd+ plus the nook branded case with sleep cover for $70.

I loves me some craigslist and got to meet a hot little chinese babe.

I hope I can get $70 for my Nook HD+ and smart portfolio case. Staples was practically giving the Nooks away recently.
