Quad Core Desktop Replacement Laptop

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834201001

really decent specs.

Q6600

2x200 GB

4 GB RAM - and that's DDR800

1 GB video memory

digital monitor output

17" screen, 1920 x 1200

i have one 35 watt industrial strength solar panel. 2 feet square.

i would need to get a few more to power this. at best, that Q6600
is chewing up 95 watts, unless they cherry pick the CPU's and found
some lower power consumption devices.

Wow, why must they use desktop components? The 35W q9300 for notebooks is coming out in August so if you want a quad core laptop, wait until then.

you mean it's a little pricey @ $3799 ?

i might drool over it.

only 1 quad core laptop at the Egg ! a little competition would
be nice.

i could live without the RAID & the SLI & 1920 x 1200/

i've seen 17" laptops with 2 GB & 200 GB and an 8600M at
Best Buy. for $600 - with maybe an X2 Turion. Compaq or
Toshiba or HP.

an extra $150 to step up from the Turion to the Quad Core.

$750

+ 2 GB
+ a second hard drive

==> $950

still a nice machine though.

The power brick on this must be the size of Texas...

I had a friend who bought a Clevo-based Alienware about 3 years ago with a desktop P4 in it. He said that the heat started melting his palmrests at one point.
