This may sound a little stupid, but I'm willing to take the risk.:$
I see double, triple and quad channel being marketed. Could be the stupidity of the e-commerce content editors, but here goes:

Is there a difference between 4 dimms of dual channel memory and 4 of quad channel?
My logic says "NO", but I'm not that technical and up to speed with all the technolgies/chipsets out there.

In essence there is no difference. All it really means is its been tested to work in such a configuration and what tends to happen is the RAM is matched when bought as a group. Buying 2x dual channel memory boxes despite the same model might mean you get two slightly different revisions of the RAM.

But for all practical purposes its the same stuff.

No difference at all. Quad channel is just 4 single channel dimms

It's nearly as bad as the dickwads in some tech stores that try to add up the Mhz on multicore CPUs. 1 quad core CPU running at 2GHZ? Well golly that must mean its an 8GHZ computer! Market it with those specs! HURRR.

Didnt that annoy anyone else?
