I have 15GB HDD, with the first 5 taken up by W2K & apps. The remaining 10GB is open for other installations. I hope to install FreeBSD, Progeny, and Slackware. What is the best strategy to install the other three if I already have W2K installed?

www.xosl.com, download the boot loader from there and put in on a floppy in case one of your os's overwrites the mbr during instal

instal each os to its partition, im assuming you know how to partition the hard disk

when your computer boots the xosl software will take over and you can set it up to choose which partitions to boot from, when your computer starts you can have it boot a default partition or choose from a list, which you defined

multi booting w/ the xosl software is a piece of cake

I've done something similar, sorta described below. But now, I use bootpart to add non-Windows OSes to the NT Loader.

My thing is, how do I install FreeBSD to a logical volume inside an extended partition? Didn't see apparent to me when I installed it (first try at installing it).

Guess the same idea would hold for quad-bboting W2K, Linux, a BSD, and Solaris. Or are their any pitfalls in that setup?

Thanks guys...

I've played with all of those expect Solaris in a multiboot environment. I'm not sure how nice it plays with other OSes. If you have the chance, try installing that first and then add the other that you know will work.
