Oh man, this just keeps getting better and better. Hot on the heels of the proven cheating in 3DMark (most notably the reduced pipeline precision, static clip planes and shader subsitution) comes the new "3DMurk" cheat.

Basically renaming the 3DMark executable and running anisotropic filtering with it causes reduced scores as nVidia is reducing the level of anisotropy when it detects 3DMark is running with anisotropic filtering.

Oh dear.

i see the dilema, where to post, you want maximum input, and sometimes that requires multiple posts. ;)

on the subject, lets see if this makes the news here on anand. Also I hope that reviewers rename some games and see if nv or ati have done some fudging.

This is getting frequent enough that's it's tempting to buy an FX just to play "find the latest hack/cheat/optimization".

Someone from the forums must have a FX card. Maybe have them run some UT2003 benches with a renamed executable. Hopefully the cheats are only with 3dmark03.

nVidia does'nt respect 3DMark03 as a valid 3D benchmark, fine, but now they have chosen the cheating, manipulating, dis-honest path that some large corporations choose to follow in an attempt to stay at the top.

I want my 3D gamming experience to be the way it was meant to be played, not manipulated with crappy IQ to win a few benchmarks, which, if we allow them to get away with this is whats next.

REPOST!! And the worst part is it's your thread!
Hehe BFG10K should know better, the MODS don`t like cross posting the same subject in different forums ;).

i see the dilema, where to post, you want maximum input, and sometimes that requires multiple posts

A lot of the members are just getting tired of Nvidia this and Nvidia that and not bothering to post,I`m one of them,I just don`t care no more,I`ve had my fill for the next 5 years ;).

I buy a video card, stick it in a slot and load some drivers. Then I play games and nef a little.

If the card sucks or is not visually up to me expectation, its gone. If someone is cheating in the drivers in a game and I am blissfully unaware because it looks great to me, I don't care.

If someone cheats in a driver for a benchmark, I don't care. Most of the world doesn't care.

I must say though that all the threads on the boards I read the last couple of weeks have been entertaining.

Its not nearly as bad as quack 3, it only really makes a huge difference in AA Tests, most people run 3d mark 2k3 w/ AA off anyways.

There are people posting in the other thread that aren't posting here, and vice versa. I have achieved my goal. :)

ts not nearly as bad as quack 3, it only really makes a huge difference in AA Tests,
(1) This isn't the only cheat nVidia has been proven to be doing. Not by a long shot.
(2) There is evidence that suggest that Quack was a genuine bug, especially since the next drivers fixed it and improved performance too.
