Well first off, welcome to the TeAm. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Ok lets break this down for you

rherkemij@hotmail.com's stats

This is the email address that you chose to identify yourself with distributed.net. I hope it's new becuase you'll be needing to get you password out of that email account. You can change what you are known as when you click "Edit profile" at the tope of your stats page.

Current Ranking: 130,301 (+17823)

the 130,301 is your ranking overall in the entire project. The +17823 shows that you have moved up 17823 places in the last day. If you had moved down it would've shown you a red down arrow rather than a green up arrow

Total Blocks to Search: 68,719,476,736

This is the total ammount of blocks that it is possible to test. You probably know that this RC5-64, which means that it's 64bit encryption. This means that there are 2^64 keys that can be tested. Now, to make this easier to manage from d.net's (distributed.net) they don't give out individual keys to test but rather blocks of keys. A block is 2^28 keys, be default. Now, how they get to 68,719,476,736 is to take 2^64 and divide it by 2^28 and viola there you have it 🙂. At the moment I think we are 45% through this at the moment but you can check that here

Total Blocks Tested: 6,139

This is the total ammount of blocks of keys that you have completed testing.

Keyspace Checked: 0.00000893%

Just the percentage of your blocks against the total ammount of blocks that can be test. Don't worry about the number being extremely small, I don't think anyone has hit 1% yet.

Total Keys Tested: 1,647,925,264,384

The ammount of individual keys that the machines you have working for you have put through the algorythm to check if they decrypt the message. This is just the number of blocks that you have done multiplied by 2^28.

Time Working: 3 days

How many individual days you've been at it. This is not from start to finish. If you do not submit any done blocks for a day this number will not move.

Overall Rate: 6,358 KKeys/sec

The ammount of keys you test a second on average. so you have tested on average 6 358 000 per second. Pretty good 😉

There are 2 ways to increase your key rate. that is to do less with the computers that you have running the d.net client on and leave the on all the time or do what we like to call ass-laminate (assimilate) more computers to crack for you. The more computers you have the bigger your "Herd" 🙂

Hope this helps and again welcome to the TeAm. 😀

Thanks for the explanations! I am starting to understand what these diffrent sections do.

Now when looking at my stats, i can see that im not in any team? I thought after joining the main Anandtech team that i could join a smaller individual team? Not sure who i can join but just thought that would be fun. If anyone knows a team i can join lemme know 🙂

-=Vampie=-

If you don't mind wearing an uniform, The Federation would be pleased to have you amongst their ranks.

Whatever you decide, Welcome to the TeAm !

Welcome, Vampirrella

Definitely join TA (Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world)
Just dont ask The DPC, they may dispiute it
😀 😉🙂:Q

After that well, there are several mini teams that would be glad to have ya aboard.🙂

Welcome,
Please join Team Anandtech, a greater bunch of folks cannot be found. 😀

To join one of the Team Anandtech mini-teams, all you have to do is change the email that you are using for RC5 to that of the mini-team.

For instance, to join the Team Within Team Anandtech (TWTA) mini-team, you would use anandtechrc5@yahoo.com. For TA Cube (commonly known as the Borg) you use rc5@tacube.com, etc. I'm not sure what the email addy is for all mini-teams.

One note, it isn't a requirement that you join a mini-team. Since you already have an email addy that you have submitted work for, you could just join Team Anandtech (still plenty of fun) 😀

Nice keyrate btw! 😀

If I join a team, will my stats carry over to the team as well or will i be starting over from block #1?

Also when going to the team anandtech site to look at my stats, it says i dont have any submitted. I do need to change the email addy from my own to that of the NEW team right?

There are so many pages with stats i guess i just dunno what im looking at. Its confusing!
Thanks and sorry for the dumb Q's 🙂

I haven't seen a dumb question yet, Vampirrella. Now some of my answers have been known to be a bit off though...

Here you are:
rherkemij@hotmail.com's stats
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Ranking: 130,301 (17823)
Total Blocks to Search: 68,719,476,736
Total Blocks Tested: 6,139
Keyspace Checked: 0.00000893%
Total Keys Tested: 1,647,925,264,384
Time Working: 3 days
Overall Rate: 6,358 KKeys/sec

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2,565 blocks were completed yesterday (0.00000373% of the keyspace)
at a sustained rate of 7,969 KKeys/sec! Ranked 4,027 for the day.
Yesterday is this participant's best day ever!

Depending on when the blocks are submitted to DNET, it can be a day before you get them.

As far as joining Team Anandtech, all you have to do is get your dnet password (I sent it to you), go here: Anandtech Team and click on the "I want to join this team" link near the bottom of the page.

As far as mini-teams, most of the established mini-teams within Team Anandtech have used up the 8 email limit on retiring emails, which means that yes, you change your dnet client email addy to the mini-team email and start cracking for them. You don't have to join Team Anandtech in that case, because the mini-team email is already a part of TA. So you become a member just by using the mini-team email id. However, any blocks you have submitted under your own email addy will not become part of the mini-team stats, and will only count for TA if you join TA using your email addy. 🙂

If you want to join a mini-team, I would recommend going ahead and changing the email addy to the mini-team's addy in the dnet client, then go ahead and join TA using your own email addy so that the blocks you've completed will be added to Team Anandtech's totals. 😀

Some of the mini-teams (TA Cube, The Federation, Naked Crackers) all have stats servers so you can track your Work Units by ip address or host name so that you don't lose site of your individual contributions to some degree.

I hope I've been able to clarify instead of confuse. :Q

Man, I'm having a flashback. His questions are nearly identical to those I asked when I first joined; right down to pasting in the stats info.🙂

Russ, NCNE

Welcome to TA! Thanks for Joining! 😀

Russ - You say "HIS"....hummmm, hey Vampirrella, male or female? 🙂

I meant "his" in the generic, non-gender specific way. 😛

Or else I was just out of it when I posted. :Q

😉
🙂

[edit]like now, when I replied for Russ. :Q[/edit]

Im fem but im using my hubbies hotmail account cuz i havent set up my own. We used to have DSL with 2 email boxes but since the move over to cable, i think im just gonna sign up with my own hotmail account as well.

Speaking of email accounts.. will that be a problem going over from "rherkemij@hotmail.com" (hubbies account) to my own which is cyndrac@hotmail.com? Will i lose all my work.. not that ive done much yet but still...

-=Vampie=-

No, at this point you can retire his email into yours. There is a limit of 8 email retires, and it is cumulative. 🙂
