I can't get any sort of sound working on this thing.. The system is as follows:

QDI KinetiZ 7E-A socket A motherboard - Via 4in1 4.32V
AMD Duron 850 - AMD Miniport 5.22 driver
256MB PC133
Asus V7100 PRO - 12.41's - DX8
Maxtor 20GB 7200RPM drive
LG 12x8x32
SB128 PCI - latest driver from soundblaster.com
Windows 2000 SP2

when i installed win2k i had the on-board sound set to disable and disable in the BIOS too.. obviously not expecting to have sound on first boot.. so when it installed the video drivers, etc, and everything else was working i lastly installed the soundcard.. it did not prompt at startup for drivers at all so i went to the yellow exclamation in device manager and went ahead installing the drivers for the soundcard. it restarted and i got a windows stop error right away, so i pulled the soundcard, booted up and removed the drivers, i then tried to get the on-board sound working to see if it was having problems too.. so i set the jumper on the board to enable and enabled in the BIOS.. it didn't work, so i went onto the QDI CD and installed their drivers, still no go.. so here i am left, i am not sure what to do, i can't get either device working.. = no sound period.

i am sure i have missed something so if you have any questions plz let me know!
