so my house was never "deactivated" when we switched from comcast to dish. We were using QAM for HD on my dad's new lcd since XMAS, and last week we stopped getting all the HD channels. We still get SD, so i know the whole line was not disconnected, but can they turn off HD only?

PS- i know i will get the "you are stealing" response, and thats fine. I can/will pay for it, im just worried that QAM is gone alltogether or somthing strange like that.

they probably put on a filter. you can go out to your box and take it off... but that would be stealing. :p

From my understanding, cable providers are required by law to supply you with unscrambled HD channels as long as you're paying for basic cable.

i was getting all the basic channels (cbs, nbc, fox etc) and a couple low quality on-demand ones, but now i get nothing but sd. I did a channel scan and the HD channels didnt even get recognized like before.
