Howdy

ive recently purchased a refurb Phillips tv 42 in lcd , and much to my surprize it picks up around 30 bonus channels some HD and some Movie channels,i have channels like 40.2 40.3 40.4 etc u get the picture.

what i would like to do is record these channels is the a PC tuner card that will pick up the same channels or does it depend on the tuner itself , i looked into the QAM tv card and they are a little pricey just to see if it will work

any help would be great or even a kick in the right direction :)

thanks

Ching

This is exactly what a QAM card will do. I use the HD Homerun which is a dual tuner, and isn't a PCI card but an external box that streams content to the computer that asks for it over the network. The reason I got it, is because it integrates into Media center edition, If you don't need this kind of thing, go ahead and get a fusion 5 lite or something along those lines, they're a very good card, but alot cheaper than the HD Homerun.

A card/device that supports QAM256 should get exactly the same channels as your TV, if not more. And like Quasmo, I whole-heartedly recommend the HDHomeRun.
