Q9650 @ new egg

9650 earily production, which means like getting it NOW or very soon is your best chance at a 4ghz quadcore.

X3370 is also a Q9650 on the xeon side for LGA775

So you really cant consider that a late batch.

If you want to take that into context, then these 9650's are E0's

So buyers should wait for revisions then correct ? 1st batches will perform somewhat less than revisions do if history follows suit

yes your correct, however i dont think intel is coming out with another revision on the yorkfield. Because that would be Bloomfield.
 
I highly doubt the "early release" theory. (Well my lady wouldnt, but thats a different story 😱 )

Anyway, im sure it has happened before like with the Q6600, but I dont think Intel intentionally releases less overclockable chips as time goes on.
 
the theory behind it is, the better fabs are focused on the product near release, and as the product gets phased, those fabs are now on the next revision or next gen.

As i said its only a theory, but we can tell already that some fab's are > other fabs on certain chips.

I personally love A, B. I hate G's and absolutely deplore F's
 
I've heard that the q6600 g0 was best upon release in july 07, but I did get one a couple of months ago that easily hit 3.5 in an ip35e so, as in most things, ymmv.

+1 Its so easy to think that our systems are slow - I keep thinkign my q6600 @ 3ghz ISN'T enough :-(
