Just wondering about the Q9650. It has a 9x multi, correct? Just like the Q6600. When will it drop in price to something affordable for mere mortals, something under $300? I want one, 4Ghz quad here I come!

If AMD doesn't do something fast Intel will paper launch the 999$ Nehalem in 31 December 2008 and you will be able to buy it only 6 months later if you fast enough while it in stocks.

The day that the Nehalem procs become available you will see prices dive south on any prior proc

You are assuming that the Nehalem procs will be available in volumes. Intel could introduce Nehalem at $100 if they wanted, just make 500 of them available and they'd still sell plenty of $1000 yorkfields.
