I would like to buy a Q9550 chip for a new build. I was about to order one from Newegg but read one of the reviews that the c1 version was shipping and not the EO version. That got me wondering if anyone had bought a EO stepping cpu and where they were selling them.

There's only one place that will guarantee you a certain stepping, TankGuys. Unfortunately, they're either sold out of E0 Q9550's, or haven't gotten any in yet.

Did you happen to notice how much less the EO version of the E8400 was? It's about $38 less. Thanks for the link I'll keep my eye on them.

You can find this information on the side of the box, it will be version SLAWQ if it is C1 stepping. It will be SLB8V if it is E0 stepping.

KingstonU, keep us updated on your baby & how well she OCs when you get it in.

I really hate Intel for not giving us higher multi quads for cheap :(

All these Yorkfields could do 4 GHz or close if it wasn't for them being crippled due to FSB...

Will do, and now I will be sure to look as to weather it is C1 or E0 stepping and let you know. This will be my first OC but I have been doing a lot of research and carefully selected my parts for this rig. Hopefully won't be long before she arrives. Just hope I get the time to tinker with it before my classes get too heavy.

Disregard too early for me to be doing this apparantly.
