Hello,

This is my Rig at the moment :
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Intel Q9550 OCed to 3.4Ghz
Radeon HD4870X2 2GB
2x2GB Corsair Dominator TwinX CL5 Dual Channel 1066Mhz

Im going to buy the GTX570 ...
Will i have a bottleneck with this speed ? (3.4Ghz )
If yes, Which speed should i OC to so it can run smoothly without any bottleneck ?

Thanks

Are you 100% sure 3.4Ghz wont bottleneck the GTX570 ?

Because i need to buy more things to be able to OC up to 4Ghz ... ( Case and Liquid Cooler )
I want to know if its will be okey with this speed or sadly i have to OC more ..

Thanks agian

IMO, I think there will be a slight bottleneck. what res are you playing at?

Really depends on the type of game you play and the settings you use. Your Q9550 should be able to OC alot more though like mine.

Im preparing for BF3 .. medium settings ...
So .. will the Q9550 @ 3.8 or 4Ghz work fine with the GTX570 without bottleneck ?

Yeah I think it will. The thing is one wont know til you start playing and the performance reviews for the final version of the game are done. You can always decide after playing BF3 on whether or not to upgrade.

Okey thanks then ... many told me to wait for the game to be released so i can decide ..
But about the Bottleneck ... As i understood from this thread and others that no i will not have bottleneck with this Speed 3.8 or 4Ghz .. which i hope so ..

Thanks for helping ;)

It seems to like both pretty well, at this point it's hard to say which one it likes more.

To the OP, get at least 2g vram on whatever VC you choose.

jeez, its funny how I used to talk about real cpu bottlenecks and get jumped on yet now everyone without a 2500k at 4.5 is somehow bottlenecked and should not get a decent gpu???

a Q9550 at 3.4 will not slow down a gtx570 enough to ever matter even at 1680x1050. that cpu will provide excellent playable performance in modern games and the gtx570 will allow you to crank most of the graphical settings. sure the 2500k might be a few fps faster if you lay off some of those graphics settings but at settings you should run its meaningless.

1080p resolution, no way. not even SLI gtx570 will be bottlenecked.

That is funny because it bottlenecked my 285 SLI really badly. What experience do you have with it exactly?

The answer is yes - to a small degree. Mostly your maximum frame rate and also to a lesser degree your median frame rate as well. Much of it will be game dependent. Games that use a lot of CPU resource already will be bottlenecked much quicker because of the strain already put on the CPU.

I saw a huge difference going from q9550 oced to 3.6 to an i7 920 STOCK. (edit: in SLI)

I have the q9550 using the same gigabyte board running stock speeds with the gtx570.
Runs Metro 2033 with everything maxed out at 1920x1080 (including physics)
Actually haven't found anything that really stresses it out yet.

I'll repeat.
I have no problem maxing out any of the titles I play nor any problem with any of the software I use on 3 year old q9550 paired with a single gtx570 on a gigabyte ep45-udp3 running at stock speeds @1080p.

Current titles I play -
Metro 2033
Il2 Cliffs of dover
MW black ops
BF2
GTA4
Portal2
bunch of other crap I cant remember off the top of my head.

The q9950 while old is still a very strong and competitive CPU

My GTX 580 on my Core 2 quad 2.93ghz is not bottlenecked in bf3 fyi. I'm sure final game this week will be even more optimized. New nvidia drivers coming out to this week.
