q9450 release date ?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody knew when the Q9450 would be released? I thought it was Mar 15.

Any leads?

i've heard it's april now, but who the heck knows? i'm not sure how they can't have an exact day at this point when it's so close to release. it's kinda annoying since i've been waiting for a couple months now to finish my computer. but yeah, i've heard april, but not sure.

you can buy the xeon equivalent right now I believe. I'm going to hold out just because I'm not going home for 10 days anyway...hopefully there will be some quantity available by then.

A VERY few places seem to have them now (or, more accurately, HAD a very few).

The equivalent Xeons are/were around in VERY limited quantity.

A bunch more of the Q9450s are coming down the inventory pipeline and should be in warehouses around 24 March from what I've seen.

well i'll definitely be checking then. even though i've been checking like 5 times a day since the 15th...ha. is it always like this when they release a new processor?

Apparently a handful were already released in Europe. Naturally, this means that Intel can claim that they stuck to their target launch date :roll: instead of being accused of paper launching.

i ordered the x3350 yesturday and it shipped today, so i guess it's in stock. Receiving it on Wednesday of next week.

does nayone know which motherboard will work right out of the box with this cpu?

Oh, now that is sweet. Tankguys has it. ***drool***

Tankguys also offers OEM/tray chips of the E3110 and 8400 (pity, they're backordered right now). And the Xeon is $30 cheaper!

I think I know who's getting my business when I order a CPU upgrade.

I think I know who's getting my business when I order a CPU upgrade.

He now has tray and retail E3110, and OEM E8400 in stock. Just got a good size order in.

According to an e-mail I got direct from Intel - they were "released" in January but I'd have a hard time finding any place that actually had them in stock - I should see greater quantities in Q2 - I'm guessing any more than ZERO would be greater quantities.

Intel blew the release on this one in regards to timing. Considering that they were originally slated for January, and then they were firm on Q1, the small quantity that is making its way out isn't all too satisfying. In January, I would of expected decent circulation by the last week of the first quarter, if I were to guess back then.
