Hey guys, i have been hanging around this forum for months, reading and learning. Now finally decided to join and get some answers from all the experts out there.

This is my setup:

CPU: Q9450 @ 3.2Ghz, 1.275v core, 1.3 Vtt, 1.4 NB and 1.2 SB
RAM: 2Gb Corsair 1066 @ 2.1v 5,7,7,24 Unlinked
MB: EVGA 750i ftw
Videcard: 8800gt 740/1850/1950
Power supply: OCZ 750W
Case: Cooler Master 690
Cooler: OCZ Vendetta2
(temps 35C idle - 54-57C load)

I get stable small fft @ 3.4Ghz 1.320v vcore, 1.3vtt, 1.4NB and 1.2SB, however when i run blend test (P95), instant freeze.

I ram Memtest86 overnight with no errors. Im not sure whats going on...

Please help guide me through....

Thanks in advance,

Welcome to the forums ! I have never been a fan of the nvidia socket 775 motherboards, so I can;t advice specifically., but it sounds like you are are havig an fsb problem. What is the fsb currently running at ?

Use OCCT for stability test - p95 can waste an entire day (24hrs) where OCCT will tell you in about an hour...

EDIT: NB might be getting too hot

I used OCCT, ran for a few minutes and froze.

I also cleaned up the paste on the chipset cooling and added AS5. Still nothign changed. Curent FSB set at 400.

What is your v-droop like? You may need more Vcore.

Set your vcore to the max spec (1.3625 idle) and see what happens. You may have to put 1.4V in BIOS to get a 1.3625V actual idle voltage.

i did a pencil mod my bios vcore is 0.008v higher than listed by CPU-z. Also under load there is no change in voltage. This is really driving me nuts....If i were to raise teh vcore to 1.3625 woun't that cause the temps to rise alot...?? Come on guys help a noob out in his overclock....
Thanks,

Well, I can;t get mine past 3.46. And I have vcore@1.375. Raise your vcore, fsb term voltage and mch.

I have the same problem only that I am very greedy, I tried FSB 456 x8 and the only values that allowed me to boot the system were 1,4375 V for the Cpu, 1,49 V for the NB and 1,4 for the Fsb Term V. I can run the prime95 for 10-12 mins before the temps reach 75+ as reported by Core Temp and that's a lot.

Right now I have 1,43125 V for Cpu, 1,45 v for NB, 1,36 for the FSB Term V, 1,125 for SB and a FSB of 438. I ran prime95 for five hours(large fft) and the temps reached 72c and the system rebooted without any warning.
The RAM is always at 2,1 v.

It appears that if you want a stable sys you have to keep the voltage within the stock range. I'll try further...

Below are my settings for my board, perhaps you can kinda pick off them a bit for things to try, as we all know, no 2 chips/boards act alike.

Thanks guys, ill try raising my Voltages up a few notches and see what happens.

I read in one of the forums that even if the NB runs very hot the system will freeze. I touched the stock cooling for the chipset and it is warm to the touch but i dont think its that hot.
