Q9300 overclocking

Out of curiosity, what mobo (chipset) is capable of reaching 500 fsb? And first of all, would the Q9300 be able to handle a 500 fsb?

Thanks

Several P35 and X38/48 motherboards will also hit 500fsb, but certainly, it's no guarantee on any motherboard.

There is a big difference as well between a given FSB speed for a quad core vs a dual core. It is way easier for the motherboard to hit high FSB speeds with a dual core.

For quads (including the Q9300), I don't think you will find many people able to hit 500Mhz, unless they are using some exotic cooling and modding. For routine 24/7 use, you won't hit 500MHz.

Most quads will end up maxing out at ~425-450FSB, due to the motherboard.
