I been thinking of getting a laptop again. Its been years since I bought one. I was looking at a Sager 8662 as one possible choice because it has the 260m video card and that is what I want in a notebook and at the PCtorque website they offer the Q9000 quad and the P9700 as an upgrade for the same extra cost of $165. So I'm wondering which is more powerful for gaming? The Q9000 is a 2.0 GHz quad and the P9700 is a 2.8GHz dualcore. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance. :)

Both are more then enough for any game you want to play. About the only peice of hardware you need to worry about now days with gaming is the video card.

If you're thinking of keeping the laptop for a long time, I'd get the quad. Otherwise, grab the dual as it'll probably be faster for most games for at least a year or two to come.

The graphics card in the laptop will most likely be too outdated to play cutting-edge games at the highest settings before dual cores become obsolete anyway.

I'm going to get a 260m because that'll be enough for me in a laptop. I still have my desktop and SFF for the really serious game muscle.

Yep - I'm not insinuating that it's a bad card, I'm just saying that by the time a quad core is "needed" for playing newer games, that 260m will be very outdated. If it were a desktop, I'd say get the quad core - later on, you could always keep the quad core and swap the graphics card out for something more powerful. Since you don't have that option in a laptop, the dual core makes more sense to me.
