Q8200 Problems

Hi all, I have a Q8200 quad core processor which runs to my liking, however, i have a problem. I'm running an application that makes my computer scream for mercy, it brings my frame rate below 5, which is heavily frustrating. I looked at the performance tab and the percentage is at 25%(3 of the boxes have their lines at the bottom, the 4th box has it at the top) always, never lower, never higher, and i was wondering if theres a way to make it so the application utilizes all four cores at once instead of murdering just one core.

*the application is FRAPS

Thanks!

Is it fraps itself bring the program to 5fps, or are you recording something and it goes down to 5fps?

Also, the processor is very good, especially at stock speeds. I might not be the processor that is holding you back.

Fraps doesn't work well with some games.(Assuming you mean recording videos) It has nothing to do with your machine. If I run fraps on UT3, I can get a solid 30fps or so, if I run fraps with Quake 3, I get like 2.

When I press record, my system turns into junk. i know it's a very good processor, and it may not be the problem. i just ordered four gigs of ram to see if this alleviates the problem.

It won't. It's a problem with fraps, not your machine. Fraps doesn't have good recording performance with a couple games for some reason. I have the same problem and so do a lot of people.
