Hi
I just upgraded my processor from a Pentium D to a Core 2 Quad Q6700 but to my dismay I found that while booting up my system it only recognized three cores. I then checked Windows Task Manager and cpu-z which confirmed that I only appeared to have three cores.
Also when booting I get this message "Intel CPU uCode Loading Error" - "Press F1 To Resume" which could be related.
Any help would be much appreciated.

My specs are:
cpu - Core 2 Quad Q6700
ram - 2gb PC-4300
motherboard - ASUS P5L 1394
graphics card - 7900 gs 512mb
power supply - Thermaltake 550w
operating system - Windows XP Pro

Thank you.

The four digit code is the bios version required for that particular processor. Unfortunately I don't see any Quads listed. I however I would download the latest Bios revision from here. Select your board from the various pull down menus. It just might still work. Even if the BIOS update does the trick, it is possible that the power regulation for this board is not up to snuff for the demands of a quad. Good luck and let us know if the BIOS update works.
