Hi all,

I just got a Q6700 CPU, and I was wondering how good it is as an overclocker.. As well as my motherboard.

My goal is 400 FSB * 10 multiplier (4ghz)

I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212, with a push and pull fan (push is 79cfm, pull is around the same)..

1) Is my cooling sufficient?
2) Is this a common (high-end mind you) overclock for the Q6700, since the Q6600 400x9 was most of the time the goal (for good cooling)
3) P5K is good for 400 fsb? (I think so though)
4) Any places I can find other Q6700 overclocks/results?

Sure, but not for 4 GHz

No. Q6700s don't really clock any higher than Q6600s. Unless you get extremely lucky, use insane cooling, & pour a ton of vcore into it, you ain't getting 4 GHz.
3.5 GHz, sure, likely. A lot more becomes a luck, cooling, &/or voltage situation.

Yes.

What are the stock settings for multiplier and FSB?

For example mine is 334x8 and on my board I switch it to 400x8 and do 3.2GHZ fine no vcore change

5) Can I probably go to 3ghz without changing the voltage?

Good chance....

Edit: BTW, I just sold that board, and it sucks for overclcking IMO. I had a Q6600 B3 stepping, was not even stable at 3 ghz !!! Put the same chip in a DQ6, same power supply and ram, got 3320 stable !

If you have a G0 stepping, your chances are in the 3.4-3.6 range. Very few under 3.4, and very few over 3.6 (as others have said)
